BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Lauren Rapp has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.

Rapp enjoyed a career weekend for the Wildcats as they posted their 23rd victory of the season. The sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind., registered a career-best 23 kills on .568 hitting in the five-set loss to Ole Miss Friday night. Her previous career-best was a 21-kill performance just weeks earlier against the Rebels. She added 12 digs for her fifth career double-double effort, while also chipping in with a pair of blocks against Ole Miss.

The sophomore followed that performance, with a career-best .643 hitting percentage against Arkansas on Sunday. She was tied for the team lead with 10 kills against the Razorbacks and posted three blocks and a team-high three service aces in the victory.

For the week, Rapp posted 33 kills and just three errors in 51 attempts to hit .588. She also recorded three aces, 17 digs and five total blocks and averaged 4.88 points per set.

The Wildcats swept Arkansas Sunday to record their 23rd victory of the season. Rapp led the players who took 10 or more attempts with her career-high hitting percentage. For the day the Blue and White teamed up to tally a.462 hitting percentage while also recording 17 blocks as they dominated the Razorbacks both offensively and defensively at the net.

Rapp was a member of the All-SEC Freshman team in her first season. She also garnered three SEC Freshman Player of the Week nominations a year ago. This is the first honor of the season for the sophomore, while her classmate Sarah Mendoza has been honored as the conference’s top offensive performer twice this season.

Kentucky returns to action Friday, when they play host to South Carolina in Memorial Coliseum. in Match time is set for a 7 p.m. start. Live video streaming and stats are available online at UKathletics.com.

Sunday UK will host Florida at 1:30 p.m. Fans who show ticket stubs from either the Men’s Basketball game with VMI, or their stub from the UK-Vanderbilt football game will receive free admission to the match.
