Lexington, Ky. – The UK women’s soccer team (4-11-2, 2-6-1 SEC) looks to keep their SEC Tournament hopes alive Sunday when they travel to Oxford, Miss. for a crucial match-up against the Ole Miss Rebels (5-9-3, 3-5-1).

The Wildcats remained in the hunt for a spot in the tournament after a 3-2 overtime win over Mississippi State on Thursday night. UK sits in 10th place with seven points, five points behind Arkansas for the eighth place and six points behind Alabama for seventh place with two matches left.

Kentucky owns a 9-4-1 mark against Ole Miss, including a 4-1-1 record in Oxford. UK is currently on a four-match unbeaten streak against the Rebels, posting a 3-0-1 mark in that time.

In the last five match-ups between Ole Miss and Kentucky it has either been an offensive blowout or a defensive struggle, no in between. In 2004, the teams combined for six goals (OM 5, UK 1) followed by a one-goal affair in 2005 (OM 1, UK 0). A five goal match followed in the 2005 SEC Tournament (UK 3, OM 2). The two teams played to a 0-0 tie in the 2006 regular season and then combined for five goals (UK 3, OM 2) in the 2006 SEC Tournament. Last season it was back to a two goal game (UK 2, OM 0).

The Wildcats are led offensively by Laura Novikoff who has posted a team high 13 points and six goals. Senior Nicola Holdsworth looks to continue her offensive onslaught having scored in four of the last six matches including a career best two-goal effort on Thursday.

Sunday’s match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. ET kick. Fans can follow all the action on UKathletics.com.
