BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — With the Kentucky men’s soccer team on the road at conference foe UAB on Saturday night, UKathletics.com will again offer a live blog from UAB’s West Campus Field. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET.
Pregame
* Kentucky is wearing black shorts and blue tops during warmups.
* UAB’s West Campus Field is in the heart of downtown Birmingham and the middle of campus, located across from the UAB baseball stadium.
* Leading scorer Michael Strong is dressed out and participating in warm ups. Strong missed his first game of the year last week, during UK’s 2-0 win over 18th-ranked South Carolina.
* UK’s goalkeepers – Dan Williams and Grant Ward – arrived before the team to the field, getting additional work with goalkeeper coach, Jeff Chaney. UK senior midfielder Chad Hagerty joined Williams, Ward and Chaney early, working on corner kicks.
* UAB is all green in warm ups, with green shorts, green warm-up tops and white socks.
* Saturday marks UAB’s homecoming football game with Marshall. Game time was at 4 p.m. ET.
* Fans can see a new UK Soccer photo gallery on UKathletics.com, with pictures from UK’s 2-0 win over No. 18 South Carolina last Sunday.
* Former UK Assistant Director of Media Relations, Scott Dean, a native of Birmingham, Ala., will be on hand to cheer on the Wildcats. Dean served as the men’s soccer contact for four years, also serving as the media contact for the 2006 Southeastern Conference Championship baseball team and nationally-prominent rifle program. Currently, Dean operates a profitable restuarant in Homewood, Ala., – Momma Goldbergs – a tatsy deli, from which the UK team will enjoy a post-game meal.

* 7:53 p.m.: UAB soccer SID Aaron Jordan is announcing the starting lineups for both teams, with UK wearing blue tops on its black shorts and white socks. UAB has green shorts and white tops. Dan Williams has a black top on yellow shorts and yellow socks. UAB’s keeper is wearing black shorts and a red top.
* 8:00 p.m.: The game has begun.
* 8:00 p.m.: GOAL KENTUCKY: Just 18 seconds into the game, a UK player was fouled near the corner of the UAB goal, setting up a free kick. Chad Hagerty took the free kick, delivering a line-drive that Stephen Beiro header past a flurry of defenders into the net. The goal marked Beiro’s first career and the assist was Hagerty’s second of the year.
* 8:05 p.m.: Beiro’s goal marked a NEW UK SCHOOL RECORD for the fastest goal in program history, eclipsing the previous record of one minute and 12 seconds, set in 1995 in a game vs. Western Michigan.
* 8:08 p.m.: Tappel fires an open shot from inside the 18-yard box, but his chip attempt sailed wide of the net.
* 8:16 p.m.: No. 11 for UAB fires a shot that sails well high of the net.
* 8:17 p.m.: UAB threatens and a clearance sets up a corner kick for the Blazers, cleared initially by Brad Walker and Tim Crone, but UAB manages a hard-driven shot that forces a Williams save.
* 8:18 p.m.: Michael Strong and Marco dos Santos check in after a UK corner, taken by Hagerty.
* 8:21 p.m.: dos Santos fires a shot wide.
* 8:35 p.m.: Mark Lavery checks in for Hagerty … UAB with a free kick from about 22 yards out … Shot taken by Two-Boys Gumede, high.
* 8:42 p.m.: UAB captain No. 4 fires a shot off a free kick from 30 yards out, a hard-hit line drive that sailed high and wide.

* 9:02 p.m.: Start of the first half … UK Lineup: dos Santos, Rice, Griffiths, Burns, Crone, Williams, Turnbull, Walker, Strong, Beiro, Muessig.
* 9:08 p.m.: UK is playing in the coldest temperatures of the year, a windy and chilly night in Birmingham.
* 9:09 p.m.: In the 52nd minute, No. 10 from UAB swipes the ball from Beiro inside the box and fires a low-lining hard hit shot that is saved by Williams.
* 9:10 p.m.: C.J. Tappel checks in for Strong.
* 9:19 p.m.: UAB has a good chance in the 61st minute, as Frank Brown fires a shot that would have gone in if not deflected by the UK defense.
* 9:24 p.m.: Chad Hagerty checks in for C.J. Tappel.
* 9:25 p.m.: Off a corner in the 77th minute, dos Santos and Beiro each had on-goal header attempts blocked by the UAB defense.
* 9:27 p.m.: Brad Walker has a good shot chance in the 79th minute but his header attempt was blocked.
* 9:31 p.m.: UK had arguably its best chance of the night in the 83rd minute as Hagerty used some fancy footwork to swipe the ball from the UAB defense inside the box, lining a cross to dos Santos, whose diving header missed wide of the post by inches.
* 9:35 p.m.: Williams saves a shot off a corner kick, which was set up on a Brad Walker hand ball from about 20 yards out.
* 9:36 p.m.: Hagerty has an excellent shot chance, bending a beautiful shot that landed on top of the net just inches from the cross bar.
* 9:37 p.m.: Crone has an acrobatic header attempt that forced a save from the UAB keeper.
* 9:43 p.m.: UAB Goal, 1-1 with 7 minutes remaining. With a flurry of activity in the six-yard box, UAB snuck a hard-hit ball past a diving Dan Williams, the first goal UK has allowed in 189 consecutive minutes.
* 9:53 p.m.: OVERTIME, 1-1
* 9:58 p.m.: UK lineup in OT: Hagerty, Griffiths, Burns, Crone, dos Santos, Turnbull, Rice, Beiro, Walker, Muessig, Williams.
