HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team, led by Mallory Blackwelder’s and Erica Still’s team-best 74, sit in fifth place after round two of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, with a team score of 301, on Tuesday at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club.

“Our team finished strong today after a difficult start,” head coach Myra Blackwelder said. “They showed a lot of character and dug deep to grind it out. Erica Still finished with an eagle on 18. Ashlee Rose and Mallory Blackwelder both finished with a birdie.”

With a combined team score of 603, the Wildcats are a mere seven strokes away from the fourth-place team, UC Irvine. No. 67 Kentucky’s top-five finish in round two puts them ahead of five top-95 ranked teams competing in the tournament.

Kristin Vincent turned in another solid round by being steady tee to green,” Blackwelder said.

Vincent, continuing to lead the team with an overall four over par, carded a 75 today which places her in a tie for 12th. Mallory Blackwelder and Still are tied for 14th with a five over par and an overall 149. Freshman Ashlee Rose shaved a stroke off of her score, putting her six over par for the tournament and a tie for 46th. Competing as an individual, junior Sara Hurwitch shot her UK career best after round two, carding a 79.

“Several teams had outstanding days today and we dropped back to fifth,” Blackwelder said. “We are looking for some red numbers tomorrow to gain some ground and move up.”

The final round will begin Wednesday with the golfers teeing off at 10:30 a.m. ET. For score updates, visit www.golfstat.com.
