Through the first 36 holes of the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, the Wildcats (298-293) sit in third place behind in-state rival Louisville (298-285) and tournament leader Michigan who set a blistering pace of 580 (286-294) through two rounds. The tournament is being played at Wolf Run Golf Course in Zionsville, Ind.
Kentucky continued to improve throughout the day during the windy conditions on Saturday improving from tied for fifth after the first round to third place after the second round. As a team the Wildcats improved their score by five strokes in the second round of play.
Kentucky senior Andy Winings (74-69-143) carded a pair of rounds at two-over par and tied for fourth to lead the team and finish the day with the only sub-par round for the Wildcats.
Fellow senior Ben Fuqua (74-73) worked his way up the leaderboard improving nine spots after round one to finish the day tied for ninth spot overall and the second leading scorer for the Wildcats. Sophomore James Kania fired a two round total 150 (73-77) to put him in a tie for 23rd place and third on the team. Two juniors round out the scoring for the Wildcats, Alex Volpenhein 155 (77-78) is tied for the 48th spot while Brian Belden showed a marked improvement between the two rounds. He shot an 85 in the first round and improved his by score by 11 strokes to give him a 74 in the second round for a tie in the 61st spot.
Newcomer Mads Kristensen, playing as an individual, is tied for 48th after shooting a 76 and 79.

LAST TIME AT WOLF RUN
The Kentucky men’s golf team finished tied for fifth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind. The Wildcats posted a third-round score of 292 to bring their total to 885 (291-302-292) and climb nine spots on the final day to tie for fifth. Then senior Cale Barr led the way for the Cats shooting an even par 71 in the final round to tie for fifth overall with a score of 215 (70-74-71). Then junior Andy Winings turned in his second top-15 finish of the season. Winings carded a third-round 71 to bring his total to 217 (69-77-71) which tied him for 11th in the individual standings. Then junior Ben Fuqua was 47th overall with a three-day total of 227 (76-77-74), while senior Brad Doster finished 50th with a score of 228 (76-76-76). Sophomore Brian Belden rounded out the scoring for Kentucky with a total of 232 (81-75-76). Sophomore Derek Oldham played the tournament as an individual and finished with a score of 233 (78-74-81).
