COLUMBUS, OH — The UK women’s soccer team surrendered four second half goals, dropping a 4-0 exhibition to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

After a scoreless first half, the Buckeyes came out with an early goal in the second 45 minutes and continued to apply the offensive pressure throughout the half.

OSU struck just over a minute into the second half, taking advantage of a free kick. The Buckeyes played the ball over to Lauren Cusick who sent a pass over the top of the UK defense where Caitlyn Martin headed the ball past UK goalie Sydney Hiance for 1-0 Ohio State lead.

The Buckeyes cushioned their lead in the 66th minute when Ashley Bowyer sending a booming attempt from 25 yards out that bent into the upper right corner of the goal for a 2-0 OSU lead.

Ohio State added two insurance goals later in the half for the final 4-0 decision.

The Wildcats got a few good looks in the first half, putting three shots on goal to the Buckeyes’ one, however UK was unable to punch anything home.

The Cats were led offensively by Jenna Goblirsch, Kristin Kover and Kelly Miller, who all tallied two shots.

Kentucky opens the regular season on Thursday, Aug. 28 as they host eighth-ranked Texas at the UK Soccer Complex.
