LEXINGTON, Ky. ? University of Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie and his staff will travel around the state of Kentucky in August to introduce the game of basketball to the youth of the Commonwealth with an upcoming series of basketball instructional day camps.
The tour will include six sessions in four cities, from Aug. 15-27. Gillispie and his staff will also make a public appearance for non-campers after their stop in Pikeville with details and locations of the appearance yet to be determined.
“We are excited about the opportunity to travel around the Commonwealth and share the game of basketball with the youth of the state,” said Gillispie. “Basketball is one of the many things that make Kentucky so special. We welcome all ability levels and are looking forward to some fun days of basketball.”
The camps, which will include instruction from the Kentucky Basketball coaching staff, allow participants to learn the game of basketball through a fundamental, intensive learning environment. The camps will give individuals the chance to learn more about the game of basketball, introducing drills that can be used at home. The camps will also help the individuals develop positive attitudes, as well as gain more confidence on and off the court. In addition to learning the game, participants will also receive a Kentucky Basketball t-shirt, opportunities for autographs and photographs, a Kentucky Basketball Highlights DVD, a chance to participate in a question and answer session and chances to win prizes in camp competitions.
