LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Five Kentucky Wildcats ? offensive tackle Garry Williams, defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, cornerback Trevard Lindley and linebackers Braxton Kelley and Micah Johnson ? were chosen for the Coaches’ Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Team announced Monday by the league office.
Williams, Jarmon and Lindley were named to the second team, while Johnson and Kelley are third-team selections:
- Williams, a senior from Louisville, is the team’s most experienced offensive lineman and has started the last 25 games at left tackle. He earned second-team All-SEC honors by league coaches for the 2007 season.
- Jarmon, a junior from Collierville, Tenn., totaled 62 tackles last season, including 13.5 tackles for loss. He had nine quarterback sacks, ranking fourth in the SEC in that category. He was named first-team All-SEC by Rivals.com and second-team All-SEC by league coaches last season.
- Lindley, a junior from Hiram, Ga., led the team last season with three interceptions and 11 pass breakups and also scored a touchdown on a fumble return in the win at Arkansas. He was third-team All-SEC in 2007 by Phil Steele’s College Football.
- Kelley, a senior from LaGrange, Ga., has 189 career tackles, including 63 last season. His best-known play was his game-winning tackle in the third overtime of the win over LSU, halting the Tiger running back one yard short on fourth-and-two.
- Johnson, a junior from Ft. Campbell, Ky., made 58 tackles last season, including four for loss. He also had two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
