Former UK Wildcat J.B. Holmes opens play on Thursday in the 137th British Open Golf Championship at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England. Holmes, who played at UK from 2002-05, is making his second appearance in the Open Championship after missing the cut in the 2006 British Open at Hoylake. Holmes already has a tour win under his belt this season, winning the FBR Open in Scottsdale, Ariz., back in February. Holmes, who is partnered with David Howell and Andres Romero, has a tee time of 3:42 a.m. (ET). The course at Royal Birkdale Golf Course will be set up at 7,173 yards and will play to a par of 34-36–70.
