Gainesville, Fla. ? Senior Beth Felts easily enjoyed her best outing of the season with a one-over-par 71 to lead all Kentucky scorers in the final day of the Lady Gator Invitational Sunday.
Felts who hit her fifth career hole-in-one just yesterday, notched an eagle in today?s round propelling her from a tie for 28th to start the day to finishing tied for 16th at the end of the tournament. Felts, playing as an individual, carded rounds of 73-77-71 for an 11-over-par final round score to pace UK.
Kentucky shot 316 for the final round as a team and finished in 13th place. Junior Mallory Blackwelder concluded tied for 23rd after notching a 79 through the final 18 holes. Senior Elizabeth Dotson hit a 78, as sophomore Erica Still fired a 77 on the final day. Dotson finished tied for 45th with Still tying for 74th.
?I thought Beth?s eagle and Erica turning it around to shoot four birdies were really our highlights today,? said Head Coach Myra Blackwelder.
Sophomore Kristin Vincent placed tied for 60th, with freshman Louise Ljungstedt tying for 67th after they both shot rounds of 82 today.
This year?s competition consisted of 16 teams, 15 of which are ranked in the latest Golfweek top-100. #39 August State, #51 Colorado, #5 Florida, Florida Atlantic, #86 Florida International, #32 Georgia State, #53 Kentucky, #29 Louisville, #35 North Carolina, #72 North Carolina-Greensboro, #77 Ole Miss, #44 Oregon, #74 South Florida, #59 Tennessee-Chattanooga, and #13 Wake Forest are among the field.
