MOBILE, Ala. — Due to torrential rain in the Mobile, Ala., area over the past two days, the No. 20 Kentucky baseball team had its season-opening contest with Xavier cancelled on Friday. UK was slated to begin its 2008 season on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, but heavy rains in the area made the University of South Alabama’s field unplayable.

Kentucky will kick off the Coca-Cola Classic with a Noon ET first pitch with Xavier on Saturday at USA’s Stanky Field. The Wildcats, originally scheduled to play four games during the weekend, will now play three total, with Sunday’s game with South Alabama starting at 11 a.m. ET, at Hank Aaron Field, a minor league park in Mobile. UK will then play its final game of the weekend on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET at South Alabama’s field.

With the time changes, UK will now have its three-game weekend broadcast via the Big Blue Sports Network (radio), with Dick Gabriel, on Lexington radio station, WXRA 1580-AM. Live stats and audio will be available at UKathletics.com.
