Men's Tennis

LEXINGTON, Ky. ? After three contests on the road, the Kentucky men?s tennis team returns home Monday for a rare non-conference match with rival Tennessee at 3 p.m. ET in the Boone Tennis Center. Highlights of the match will be broadcast on the Tennis Channel show ?Inside Tennis with the Koz? later this spring.

?To have our match highlights broadcast on the Tennis Channel is huge for our players and great exposure for our program and the SEC,? UK head coach Dennis Emery said.

The Volunteers are undefeated at 7-0 and ranked 16th in the latest poll. Tennessee defeated No. 59 Louisville 5-2 Friday night. The Volunteers are led by two freshmen, No. 28 Boris Conkic and No. 93 J.P. Smith, in singles.

The No. 47 Cats are 5-3 and fresh off a victory over No. 51 Harvard Saturday in Charlottesville, Va. UK freshmen Will Beck, Brad Cox and Alberto Gonzalez came to the rescue in singles play, going 3-0 against the Crimson. Senior Marcus Sundh earned the fourth point for the Cats with a win at No. 3 singles.

The teams? players are familiar with each other after battling last fall in Kentucky?s Fluitt Invitational as individuals. Last season the Cats fell 6-1 to the Volunteers in Lexington during SEC play.
