CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Kentucky baseball head coach John Cohen was honored recently at the prestigious ?Be the Best You Are? baseball coaching clinic in Cherry Hill, N.C., as the clinic inducted the fifth-year UK coach and former National College Coach of the Year into its exclusive Clinic Hall of Fame.
The ?Be the Best You Are? coaching clinic is regarded as one of the top coaching clinics in the country, annually drawing thousands of coaches to its informative sessions.
?I was extremely honored to be inducted into the ?Be the Best you Are? clinic Hall of Fame over the weekend,? Cohen said. ?The clinic is one of the top clinics in the country, and to be included in such an exclusive group is a tremendous honor.?
Cohen, speaking at the 35th annual clinic over the weekend, joins an exclusive group of speakers to be inducted into the clinic?s Hall of Fame. Among the coaches honored in the clinic?s Hall of Fame, are college baseball legends McMahon, Skip Bertman and Ron Polk. Bertman built LSU into a college baseball power during his 17 seasons as the head coach of the Tigers. Polk, the Mississippi State head coach and the SEC coaching all-time wins leader, coached Cohen during his playing days at MSU.
The speaker lineup over the weekend included some of the more notable names in the college and professional ranks, including first-year Cal State Fullerton head coach and former UC-Irvine head man Dave Serrano, head coach Fred Hill from Rutgers, and former Florida and Mississippi State coach and current New York Yankees advisor Pat McMahon. Other notable speakers included Blue Jays hitting instructor Gary Denbo, Auburn head coach Tom Slater, and Auburn assistant Bill Mosiello, a former hitting instructor with Southern California.
Kentucky, ranked as high as No. 20 in the preseason, opens its season on Feb. 22, in Mobile, Ala., at the Coca-Cola Classic.
