Kentucky?s Victoria Dunlap ( Nashville, Tenn.) was named the Southeastern Conference?s Freshman of the Week after averaging 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game during the three-day Rainbow Wahine Classic last week, the league office in Birmingham, Ala., announced Tuesday. Dunlap scored a career-high 10 points and charted four steals

in the loss to nationally-ranked Texas and shot 80.0 percent from the field (4-of-5) against Minnesota. In UK?s win over Lipscomb, Dunlap hit 3-of-4 from the field and pulled down four rebounds. She hit over 70 percent from the field for the week (12-of-17) and charted a team high-tying six steals in the three games.

Dunlap has started in all six games this season at the forward position. Overall, she ranks fourth on the team in scoring (7.7 points per game) and is UK?s second-leading rebounder with 5.7 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in steals with 13 on the year.

This is the third year the SEC has recognized a Freshman of the Week award. The weekly award marks UK?s first SEC Freshman of the Week since Carly Ormerod ( Louisville, Ky.) received the honor twice during the 2005-06 season.

The Cats return to action Friday, Nov. 30 when they play host to intrastate rival Western Kentucky in Rupp Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. ET and it will be aired live on the Big Blue Sports Network (radio and TV). Tickets are available for $5 adults/$2 senior citizens and children ages 18 and under.
