LEXINGTON, Ky.? For the second consecutive week a University of Kentucky swimmer or diver has been recognized as a top performer as senior Jenny Bradford was named SEC Female Swimmer of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday.
Bradford enjoyed another outstanding week to her already fantastic career. The Groveport, Ohio, native captured wins in all four of her individual events in meets against Florida and Louisville over the week. Her wins in the 50-freestyle and 100-freestyle against Louisville at the Ralph Wright Natatorium are new pool records. Additionally, her mark of 22.75 in the 50-free leads the SEC conference.
Both of her 50- and 100-free times not only are new records, but they served as NCAA ?B? cuts as well. Bradford is the only Wildcat swimmer to achieve two NCAA time standards through three meets thus far in the season.
A mainstay on the Blue and White relays, Bradford anchored four relays that captured wins in the two meets for the week.
Last week, freshman diver Jessie Snowden was recognized as the Diver of the Week. Bradford?s honor now marks two consecutive awards for the Kentucky program.
The UK women are off until they travel to the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C., Nov. 15. Last season, Bradford captured wins in the 50-free, 100-free and 100-fly on her way to garnering a National Swimmer of the Week award at the Nike Cup.
