TUSCALOOSA, Ala.?The University of Kentucky women?s golf team fired a 303 in the second round of action to move into a tie for 12th place with Texas and sits just four shots back of a top-10 finish in the UA-Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate hosted by Alabama on Saturday.
Arkansas remains atop the team leaderboard, just one shot in front of Louisville. The host Alabama team fired a team-low 292 in the second round of action to move into seventh place.
Kentucky?s Erica Still was one of five players among the field to shoot a second-round low score of a 71-even par score. Still opened action with an eight-over in round one and advanced to a tie for 15th place today after beginning the second round in a tie for 53rd. Still tied a season and career-best score with her even round.
“Erica had a really solid round today,” said Head Coach Myra Blackwelder. “A lot of notable players are struggling with the course playing tough, but Erica played really well today.”
Freshman Louise Ljungstedt is tied for 30th after shooting a 76 in the second round today. Junior Mallory Blackwelder and freshman Emma Eksell both carded seven-over par 78s. Blackwelder is in a tie for 36th, while Eksell sits in 62nd place in her collegiate tournament debut.
Eleven teams competing are ranked in the nation?s top-50 in the country by Golfweek. There are nine SEC teams in the field.
The final 18 holes played on Sunday will begin with a shotgun starts at 8:40 a.m. CDT.
