Senior Wesley Woodyard has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Butkus Award for the nation?s best linebacker.
Woodyard leads the Wildcats this season with 77 tackles, with eight tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks, four pass breakups, and one caused fumble. He tied a career high with 18 tackles in the win at Arkansas, along with causing a fumble that Trevard Lindley returned for a touchdown, and was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for that performance.
The Butkus Award is presented by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando (Fla.). In addition to Woodyard, the semifinalist list includes Dan Connor of Penn State, Shawn Crable of Michigan, Jordon Dizon of Colorado, Erin Henderson of Maryland, Ali Highsmith of LSU, James Laurinaitis of Ohio State, J Leman of Illinois, Ben Moffitt of South Florida, and Keith Rivers of Southern California.
J. Williams, Lumpkin Available: Junior linebacker Johnny Williams and sophomore defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin will be available for limited action in Saturday?s game vs. Florida, Coach Rich Brooks announced after Thursday?s practice.
Williams has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in recent weeks and missed the LSU game because of the condition. Lumpkin has been out since incurring a hip injury vs. Kent State on Sept. 8.
?Buyer Beware? for Tickets Not Bought Through UK or TicketMaster: Fans are reminded ?buyer beware? for game tickets not purchased through official outlets ? UK Athletics or TicketMaster.
Tickets that have been reported as lost or stolen have cancelled bar codes and will not be admitted to Commonwealth Stadium. Also, UK student tickets are admissible only with a current UK student identification card.
In addition, counterfeit tickets appeared at Saturday?s LSU game, bearing fake bar codes that will not enable the ticket-holder to enter the stadium.
Florida Game Will Be Well-Covered: There will be a lot of media attention for Kentucky?s game vs. Florida, with the national broadcasts beginning on Friday.
Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday 10-noon: ESPN College GameDay will be set up on the northwest side of the W. T. Young Library (facing Rose Street). The GameDay crew of Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, and Desmond Howard will go live for a short segment about 5 p.m. on Friday. They will do the Saturday show live from 10-noon. Fans are invited to participate in the event.
Saturday noon-1 p.m.: College Sports Television (CSTV) returns with the Chick-fil-A SEC Tailgate Show from noon-1 p.m. It will be at the same location as last Saturday, in the grass area between the Green Lot and Jerry Claiborne Way. Former Wildcat All-America quarterback Tim Couch will be a guest analyst, joining hosts Greg Amsinger and former SEC Player of the Year David Pollack on the set. Fans are invited to participate.
Saturday at 3:30 p.m.: CBS will televise the game live at 3:30 p.m. Verne Lundquist (play-by-play), Gary Danielson (analysis), and Tracy Wolfson (reporter) call the action.
Saturday at 3:30 p.m.: The game also will be nationally broadcast on the Westwood One Radio Network, with Kevin Kugler calling the play-by-play and former Auburn coach Terry Bowden providing the analysis.
Replays of LSU Game: There will be two replays of last Saturday?s Kentucky-LSU game that was televised originally by CBS.
The CWKYT station in Lexington (channel 5 on Insight Cable, 14 on DirecTV, and 99 on Time Warner) will replay the telecast Friday at 10 p.m. College Sports Television (CSTV) will replay the game Friday at 4 p.m.
