October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Kentucky women?s soccer team will be doing its part to raise money in an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer research.
?We?re very happy that we can participate in such an important cause,? said Head Coach Warren Lipka. ?Everybody needs to be aware and contribute because it seems that as each day goes by, more and more people know somebody that has been diagnosed with cancer. Having people close to me in my life that have been afflicted by this disease has opened my eyes, and anything we can to do help with this cause, we?re happy to do.?
The Wildcats? October 19 match against Arkansas is being hailed as Kick for the Cure. Tickets to the event will be just $1 for fans wearing pink and $2 for all other fans.
A silent auction will be held with various UK memorabilia available for purchase including a Billy Gillispie autographed basketball and a Rich Brooks autographed football. The auction will run through halftime of the match. Commemorative t-shirts will also be on sale.
All proceeds and donations will go towards breast cancer research, education and treatment at the Markey Cancer Center.
Kickoff against the Lady Razorbacks is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex.
