University of Kentucky President Lee T. Todd Jr., several leading faculty and administrators ? and UK Football Coach Rich Brooks and other Wildcat coaches ? are bringing the See Blue Tour to Louisville Monday.
Todd will join Brooks the evening of Monday, Sept. 24, at a special rally at 4th Street Live in downtown Louisville. From 6 to 7 p.m., Brooks will do his weekly radio call-in show from Lucky Strike, a bowling and entertainment complex at 4th Street Live.
Brooks will be joined by other coaches, the UK cheerleaders and pep band, and several administrators and faculty members. UK alum and country music sensation Sarah Johns will be giving a concert from the venue as well. The event is free and open to the public.
“Seeing Blue is about envisioning the excitement, energy, innovation and discovery that we are all about at the University of Kentucky,” Todd said. “There is excitement that comes with our push to become a Top 20 public research institution because that will help transform Kentucky for the better. And there’s excitement that comes with being part of a top-flight athletics program, represented by someone like Rich Brooks who is taking our football program to new heights, both athletically and academically.”
Before the pep rally, Todd will appear at 5:15 p.m. on the popular Terry Meiners show on WHAS-840 AM, the home of the UK Wildcats.
During his visit in Louisville on Tuesday, Sept. 25, Todd and other UK officials will be visiting two area high schools ? Louisville St. Xavier and Louisville DuPont Manual High School ? and talking with students about the importance of higher education. He will end his visit at a Preview Night with potential college students and parents at 7:30 p.m. at the Executive West Hotel.
“We want potential students, families and everyone in Louisville to know that we are committed to the best in undergraduate education because educating Kentucky’s best and brightest today is critical to a brighter future tomorrow,” Todd said. We also are ? and must be — committed to conducting ground-breaking research that will lead to breakthroughs in health care and economic development because Kentucky needs us to do that.
“And, yes, we want them to know that we are committed to having the highest quality athletics program ? one that wins both on the field and off of it.”
