TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ? Kentucky track and field athletes are in their second day of competition at the 2007 Southeastern Conference Championships at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium hosted by the University of Alabama. Live updates of the performances of UK?s athletes will be available below. Check back with ukathletics.com throughout the day for updated results.

Thrower Gavin Ball recorded a personal-best toss of 175-3 in the men’s discus, the seventh-best toss in school history.

Junior Lavera Morris finished first in her heat in the women’s 1,500-meter run with a season-best time of 4:27.42 to advance to Sunday’s final which is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT. Senior Georganne Way also qualified with a time of 4:34.61.

On the men’s side, junior John Richardson also qualified for Sunday’s final in the men’s 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:49.29. The finals are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

Sophomore thrower Ashley Muffet, the 2006 SEC Indoor Shot Put Champion, finished second in the shot put with a toss of 149-6. She is currently UK’s top points scorer with 16 of the team’s 21 points.

Luis Luna qualified for the finals of the men’s 400-meter dash with the fourth-fastest time of the day – 46.66. The finals take place at at 7:10 p.m. EDT Sunday.

Freshman Jenna Martin just missed qualifying for the finals of the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 53.18. It was the third-fastest mark in school history and just two seconds shy of qualifying for the finals.

No Wildcats qualified for the finals in the men’s 100-meter dash.

Kentucky is currently preparing for the men’s and women’s steeplechase. Andre’ Silva competes for the men, while Andrea Halasek competes for the women.
