PHILADELPHIA ? The Kentucky track and field teams concluded their competition in the prestigious 113th annual Penn Relays Saturday with several strong performances at Franklin Field.

Junior thrower Alek Grietens (Nipomo, Calif.) matched his personal-best toss in the men?s hammer throw with a mark of 184-10. Last week, he also recorded the same mark at the Triton Invitational in LaJolla, Calif.

The men?s 4×100 meter relay squad, consisting of Kwasi Obeng (Bardstown, Ky.), Gordon McKenzie (Queens, N.Y.), Brandon Austin (Paducah, Ky.) and Jose Acevedo (Caracas, Venezuela) finished fourth in that event with a time of 40.88.

The women?s 4×800 meter relay squad, in its first race of the season, finished fifth with a time of 8:39.72. The squad consisted of Georganne Way (Lititz, Pa.), Jackie Gordon (Frankfort, Ky.), Lavera Morris (Orlando, Fla.) and Jenna Martin (Nova Scotia, Canada).

The men?s 4×800 meter relay of Nick Reeves (Dublin, Ohio), Stephan Smith (Tallahassee, Fla.), Scott Geisinger (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Andre? Silva (Centereach, N.Y.) was ninth in a time of 7:39.99.

Kentucky returns to action May 10-13 when it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete in the Southeastern Conference Championships hosted by the University of Alabama. Complete results and a recap of UK?s participation in the SEC Championships will be available at ukathletics.com.
