LEXINGTON ? The 26th-ranked Kentucky women?s tennis team looks to regain its winning form on Friday at 2 p.m. when it faces No. 22 South Carolina at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C.
The Wildcats (15-3) have dropped their last two contests after putting together a nine-match win streak early in the year. Both losses came in tough fashion on the road against No. 4 Georgia and No. 26 Tennessee.
“We’re very eager to play and hopefully we’re going to continue working to play our best during tough situations,” Kentucky head coach Carlos Drada said. ” We will improve on last week’s performance.”
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks are rolling right now, having extended their win streak to seven last weekend with easy wins over Auburn and Alabama. South Carolina (15-3) is currently tied with the Bulldogs and Vanderbilt atop the SEC standings at 7-1. Kentucky is one game back at 6-2.
In the series, UK has won five straight, including a 5-2 win in Lexington last year. The Wildcats lead the overall series 13-10.
