LEXINGTON ? Following its best SEC Championships performance in four years, the Kentucky gymnastics team held on to top 25 rankings on both the floor exercise and vault and just missed a top 25 overall ranking, holding down 26th.
After another stellar floor performance that netted them a 48.975 at the SEC Championships, UK remained No. 14 in the country on the event. The vaunted lineup is led by sophomore Heather Hite who ranks 23rd nationally with a regional qualifying score of 9.885. Freshman Hillary Ferguson just missed a national ranking with an RQS of 9.875.
On vault, UK dropped three spots to No. 20. This season, the Wildcats have been led on the apparatus by senior Krystle Cook, who is tied for 25th nationally with a 9.880 RQS. Cook is the defending NCAA Central Region Vault Champion as well as Kentucky?s female nominee for the prestigious Boyd-McWhorter Post-Graduate Scholarship. She took fourth at the SEC Championships on Saturday.
Hite also earns a top 25 ranking on the balance beam, coming in 22nd with an RQS of 9.870.
