LEXINGTON ? The 23rd-ranked Kentucky women?s tennis team puts its nine-match win streak on the line Friday afternoon when it takes on fifth-ranked Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Compled in Athens, Ga.

The Wildcats have not lost in six weeks running their record to 15-1, and have opened Southeastern Conference action 6-0 for the second time in three years, matching the 2005 SEC Championship team?s start.

Georgia, ranked No. 1 as recently as a week ago, dropped its first match last Friday to Auburn. The Bulldogs are one-game back of UK and Vanderbilt for first place in the league.

A week ago, the Wildcats rolled over magnolia state foes Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The wins completed a sweep of the SEC?s Western Division squads. Meanwhile, Georgia split against Auburn and Alabama.

Kentucky senior Joelle Schwenk ran her win streak to nine, all coming in straight sets, against the Rebels. She?s now won 18 of her last 19 matches. Meanwhile freshman Sarah Woestmann improved her career record to 15-1 with two easy wins at No. 3. Fellow rookie Whitney Spencer is a stellar 9-2 in the bottom half of the line up while sophomores Carolina Escamilla and Jessica Giuggioli have each won four straight.

Last season, Kentucky outlasted Georgia, 4-3, as Escamilla rallied from a set down and clinched the match in a third-set tiebreaker. It was UK?s third straight victory in the series dating back to 2005.
