LEXINGTON, Ky.?The dynamic doubles duo of senior Peter Bjork and junior Will Ward broke into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the first time this season at No. 22 as announced on Tuesday.

Bjork and Ward, both transfers from Big Twelve schools, have stretched their record as a pair in the Blue and White to an unblemished 8-0 start, playing primarily in the heart of the doubles lineup at No. 2.

The tandem?s highlight win came in a Wildcat loss to No. 15 Louisiana State on March 9. Kentucky?s duo took down the nation?s No. 5 team in the Tigers? James Cluskey and Ken Skupski in a very rare loss. Bjork and Ward are beating their opponents by almost four points (3.75) on average.

In singles action, Ward also broke into the singles rankings for the first time this season. Ward comes in at No. 96 after beginning his SEC action with a perfect 2-0 record, and an 8-3 mark in dual match play.

In addition to the defeat of Cluskey and Skupski, Ward?s marquee win in singles play also came against the Tigers as the Auckland, New Zealand, native earned the Wildcats? only point in a 6-1 loss. Ward knocked off the No. 37 ranked player Danny Bryan in an entertaining three-set thriller. Bryan took the first set 7-5, before Ward answered with a dominating 6-2 win in the second set. It took extra points to decide a victor but, the Wildcat prevailed with a third-set 7-6 (5) win.

Sophomore Bruno Agostinelli remains ranked in the polls in singles play, this week he moves to No. 88 after suffering two tough losses in SEC play a week ago. Agostinelli bounced back quickly, earning two victories on Sunday over Indiana State?s Anton Tsymbalov, and Murray State?s Dymtro Hryhorash.

Kentucky and their newly-ranked doubles tandem will return to action in an SEC-road trip this weekend. UK travels to No. 71 Mississippi State on Friday, and then No. 9 Mississippi for a Sunday match-up.
