Freshman guard Jodie Meeks has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office this afternoon.
The 6-5 Norcross, Ga. native tied his career high with 18 points off the bench, including 13 points in the second half to help lead the Wildcats to a victory over the LSU Tigers. He recorded a crucial three-point play against LSU that gave the Wildcats a four-point lead with 7:31 to go in the game.
He recorded his first collegiate start at Vanderbilt and responded with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting including 3-for-6 behind the three-point line. Meeks is shooting 87 percent from the free throw line on the season including 5-of-6 on the week.
It was the third time this season that Meeks was awarded the SEC Freshman of the Week honor.
Kentucky celebrates Senior night on Wednesday when the team hosts Georgia at 8:00 p.m. at Rupp Arena. The game will be televised by Lincoln Financial Sports.
