DESTIN, Fla.–The University of Kentucky women?s golf team is currently in tenth place and just one-shot behind Eastern Tennessee in ninth place, after the second round of the Chrysler Challenge hosted by Florida State University on Sunday.
Freshman Erica Still was among four tournament players to fire a 73, a low score for the tournament?s second day. Still sits in a tie for 27th place at 19-over-par to lead all Wildcats. The Waycross, Ga., native struggled in her opening round shooting an 88, but improved in day two by 15 strokes on Sunday.
Kentucky combined for a 326 in day two, bettering their opening round of 332 by six shots.
The host team, Florida State, leads the field by twenty strokes. North Carolina is in second with a 53-over-par team score. The Seminoles? Caroline Westrup leads the individual leader board with a five-over-par through two rounds. Westrup joined UK?s Still as one of the four players to shoot a second-round 73.
The Blue and White?s day one leader junior Beth Felts, fell to 38th place with a second round 86, and now stands at 23-over-par. Senior Marissa Muir stayed consistent firing an 83 for the second straight day. Muir holds a tie for 39th place. Classmate Katie Johnson took a page from her teammate, as she too fired the same score she did in the opening round during the second day, an 84. Junior Elizabeth Dotson rounds out the UK scoring, carding an 87 good for a tie for 50th place.
