LEXINGTON, Ky.?Sophomore men?s tennis player Bruno Agostinelli will be out with a left foot injury for four to six weeks to begin dual match season.
Agostinelli suffered a tendon tear in his left foot and will not open the season for at least four weeks. Agostinelli is the team?s highest ranked player (No. 89 in the ITA rankings) and the No. 1 singles player. He was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2006 after producing a 23-16 singles record as a freshman.
?It is always a problem when one of your top players is out,? said Head Coach Dennis Emery. ?Not only is Bruno our highest ranked player, but he is a quiet leader in singles and doubles. This will obviously give us a chance to develop the depth in our lineup.?
Kentucky begins dual match season with an opening day double header at the Boone Tennis Center on Sunday. UNC-Greensboro and the Wildcats will play at 1:00 p.m. EST, while Toledo and Kentucky will begin play at approximately 5:00 p.m.
