LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky rifle team continued its hot shooting and defeated UT-Martin, 4644-4524 in a match held Saturday at Barker Hall.
“Overall, the match was a good performance,” head coach Harry Mullins said. “The team worked hard on getting the numbers that we needed to in order to get a win. We are on the right track of improving each and every match, even though we did not shoot as well as we did in the Ole Miss match the last time out. This is our highest home match score so far this season, so I was pleased with that output. I think that with a good nights rest and a few adjustments we will come out Sunday and show some improvement on the numbers from today.”
The Wildcats were paced by several individuals including Thomas Csenge (586 smallbore), Jen Pason (592 air rifle), Jake Savitts (574 smallbore), and Andrew Roland (587 air rifle).
Pason had the match high in air rifle with her career-high 592 and Csenge was the smallbore champion with a 586. Amy Sowash posted a solid 583 air rifle score.
UK will face intra state rival Murray State Sunday at Barker Hall with plans to shoot on electronic targets in the upstairs of Barker Hall.
