Senior offensive lineman Hayden Lane and sophomore safety Adam Richey have been named game captains for this week?s contest vs. Georgia.
Game captains are usually chosen based on performance from the previous week?s game. Lane (Lawrenceville, Ga.), an offensive tackle throughout his career, was called upon at right guard when starter Trai Williams sustained an ankle sprain on the first series of the game. Lane played very well in his new role, according to Coach Rich Brooks, and will be in the starting lineup at that position on Saturday.
Richey (Nicholasville, Ky.) sees most of his action on special teams, where he was been a stalwart on kick coverage. He had two tackles at Mississippi State, increasing his total to seven on the season. Lane and Richey will join permanent captains Keenan Burton and Lamar Mills for the coin toss.
Scouts of the Week: Kentucky?s Scout Team Players of the Week in preparation for the Mississippi State game were freshman wide receiver Andre Henderson (Lexington, Ky.), sophomore linebacker Mikhail Mabry (Mililani, Hawaii), and freshman running back Trey Bowland (Knoxville, Tenn.) for special teams.
Forecast Improving: The weather forecast for Saturday?s game has improved. Weather.com now calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of 51 degrees.
Homecoming Events: A number of events are being held on the University of Kentucky campus this week to celebrate Homecoming.
Highlighting the activities are three events that are free and open to the public:
Bonfire, pep rally, and concert, Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the E. S. Goodbarn Field between Commonwealth Stadium and Nicholasville Road Actress Ashley Judd as guest speaker for the College of Arts and Science Blazer Lecture, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Singletary Center for the Arts on Euclid Avenue Homecoming Parade, Friday at 7 p.m., following a route that will go from Commonwealth Stadium to Memorial Coliseum
Of course, the week?s events are capped by the Homecoming game on Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. Georgia. Winners of various student competitions will be announced at halftime, along with the Homecoming King and Queen.

Saturday is National College Football Day: Nearly 100 spectators gathered around a field in New Brunswick, N. J., on Nov. 6, 1869, to witness a game unlike anything seen before.
