LEXINGTON, Ky. ? For her efforts at the Ross Resorts Invitational senior Katie Johnson is this week?s women?s golfer of the week for the period Oct. 30-Nov. 6, as named by the coaching staff.

The Lexington, Ky., native led the team for the first time this fall season in this past weekend?s tournament which featured 13 teams. Johnson carded a three-round total of 234 good for +18 over par and a share of 22nd place.

“I’m really proud of the way Katie stayed focused and positive throughout the tournament,? said Coach Stephanie Barker. ?She’s been working hard to take her mental game to a higher level and her effort is making a big difference. It’s exciting to see her finish the fall with a great round.”

Kentucky concluded its fall season at the Ross Resorts Invitational placing ninth. The team fired a fourth-best final round in the field, shooting 306 in the final day. All four golfers shot 80 or below, with Johnson?s 73 leading the way.

The Lady Cats return to action in the Baja Invitational being played in Ensenada, Mexico, Feb. 6-8, 2007.
