Kentucky senior goalie Anne Ogundele has had a career year thus far and the honors continue to pile up for her.
She has been named to Top Drawer Soccer?s National Team of the Week as announced by the organization today as well as being named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
Ogundele led the Wildcats to two more shutouts over the weekend, this time recording clean sheets against Mississippi St. and then SEC West leader Ole Miss in Oxford. It was the third time this season that the senior has recorded perfect games in the same weekend. They were her 10th and 11th shutouts of the season, giving her the UK single-season shutout record. Ogundele recorded her 200th career save against Ole Miss while collecting her career best ninth win of the season against Mississippi State as well as her career high 74th save against Ole Miss.
Ogundele has already been named the SEC Player of the Week earlier this season as well as being named to the Soccerbuzz National Team of the Week two weeks ago.
The Mississauga, Ontario native becomes the second Wildcat this year to be named to the Top Drawer weekly national team as freshman Katie Fahey received the honor back on August 28.
Thus far, two Wildcats have been honored three times this season by the league office. Megan Jones was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week on September 11 and Ogundele was named the conference?s defensive player of the week on October 9 in addition to this week.
Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt Game Time Change – Kentucky returns home on Friday night to celebrate Senior Night where Ogundele and fellow senior Betsy Holbrook will be recognized. The Wildcats will host the Vanderbilt Commodores in the final regular season game at the UK Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, a change from the original 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The time was changed due to television as the game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net.
