OXFORD, MS ? The Kentucky women?s soccer team (9-6-3, 4-3-2) played to its second tie in conference play this year, recording a 0-0 draw against SEC West leader Ole Miss (7-6-5, 3-2-5).

The Wildcats had a golden opportunity to strike first in the 28th minute when Sarah Gaunt chased down a ball on the right end line and sent a perfect crossing pass past Ole Miss goalie Ann Shelton but Callie Lanphier wasn?t able to catch up to the ball as it went past the mouth of an empty goal untouched.

The two teams battled through a fairly even first half with the Rebels out shooting the Wildcats 4-3.

Ole Miss had a few chances for the lead late in the second half, actually putting the ball in the next twice. However, the Rebels were called offside on the first attempt and the second try was called off because Brittney Potts? indirect kick off a Kentucky foul failed to touch another Rebel player before going in the net.

Kentucky provided a flurry of action in the final minutes, threatening to take a 1-0 lead, beginning in the 87th minute when Megan Jones crossed a pass to Giuleana Lopez in front of the goal but Lopez hit off the top of the ball sending a weak shot that Shelton deflected away. Less than a minute later Kelsey Fenix nearly broke the scoreless tie when her shot from on top of the 18-yard box hit off the crossbar.

?We didn?t play with the attacking attitude we had on Friday night,? said head coach Warren Lipka. ?In the second half we had our chances with Giuleana?s (Lopez) shot from six yards out and Kelsey?s (Fenix) shot off the crossbar. It was a well fought game; we?ll take our one point on the road and go home and prepare for Friday night.?

The shutout was Ogundele?s 11th of the season which is tops in the conference.

Kentucky returns home on Friday night to celebrate Senior Night where seniors Betsy Holbrook and Anne Ogundele will be recognized. The Wildcats will host the Vanderbilt Commodores in the final regular season game at the UK Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
