LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky women?s tennis team returns to fall action this weekend at the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional hosted by the University of North Carolina.

Three Wildcats, Jessica Giuggioli, Caroline Winebrenner and Christine Johnson, will each be vying for one of the eight spots reserved in the main draw for qualifiers. The qualifying draw begins Thursday.

Giuggioli is seeded fifth among the players attempting to qualify and faces Neils Barringer of N.C. State in the first round. Winebrenner has a tough task in facing eighth-seeded Miranda Gutierrez of South Carolina in her opener. Johnson meets East Tennessee State?s Elena Volubueva in her first match.

Players in the qualifying draw must win two matches to advance to the main draw, which starts Friday.

Kim Coventry highlights UK players in the main draw, seeded fifth. She?ll meet a qualifier in the first round. Carolina Escamilla and Joelle Schwenk are also already in the singles draw. Escamilla faces Longwood?s Elena Triebskorn while Schwenk meets UNC?s Laura Reichert. Schwenk beat Reichert three weeks ago at the UT Invite in Knoxville, Tenn.
