LEXINGTON ? Highlighted by Excite Nite on Jan. 12 against defending national champion Georgia, the Kentucky gymnastics team announced its 2007 schedule on Monday.
The schedule features four home meets total at Memorial Coliseum, which packed in an average of nearly 2,500 fans per meet last year. That total ranked 12th nationally.
The home slate includes the Bulldogs in the season opener, a quad-meet with North Carolina, West Virginia and Maryland on Jan. 26 as well as Southeastern Conference meets against annual national contender LSU and Arkansas.
Kentucky hits the road for seven meets before the SEC Championships take place in North Little Rock, Ark., on March 31. The Wildcats travel to Auburn, Alabama and Florida in the first six weeks of the season. In March, UK is on the road four straight weekends, heading to Ohio State and Nebraska as well as Texas Women?s University and Arizona for quad-meets.
Last year, Kentucky had a sold out Memorial Coliseum for Excite Nite, drawing 5,800 fans in a victory over Illinois State and Southeast Missouri State. Only five schools nationally had a higher attended home meet in 2006.
