CINCINNATI, Ohio? The University of Kentucky?s men?s tennis players sophomore Greg Anderson and freshman Alex Lambropoulos each earned a final day singles win at the Cincinnati Intercollegiate on Sunday.
The two were the final players in action over the weekend for the Wildcats. Anderson downed Michigan State?s Brendan Kinkopf in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
Lambropoulos needed three sets to top Britton Steele, also a Spartan. The Wildcat took the first set 6-4, but Steele earned a second set victory 6-3 to force the match into a deciding set. In a closely contested third set, Lambropoulos prevailed for his first collegiate victory 11-9.
Anderson and Lambropoulos teamed up in doubles action and faced Wisconsin?s Phil Bellido and Lance Kasarov. The Badgers topped the Wildcats 8-2.
Kentucky returns to action in the University of Louisville Invitational and the Bollittieri Challenge Oct. 6.
