CHARLESTON, S.C.–The University of Kentucky women?s golf team concluded play at the Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston Tuesday.
Kentucky finished in 18th place after registering a three day total 940 (308-314-318). Freshman Erica Still (Waycross, Ga.) topped the Cats scoring with a 225 (72-75-78) in her collegiate debut. Still?s score posted her a tie for 32nd place.
Still is the second Wildcat freshman in the past three seasons to lead the team?s first tournament in scoring. Beth Felts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was the last Wildcat to do so, as she led the team in scoring in 2004 at the Cougar Classic.
Now a junior, Felts notched the second-best round for Kentucky in the third round with a 79.
Florida State took top honors after shooting an astounding 285 in the third round. The Seminoles used a three day total of 873, good for nine-over-par, to take home first place. The University of North Carolina?s Lauren Hunt earned individual honors after firing a six-under-par 210.
Kentucky returns to action Sept. 18-19 in the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup hosted by Louisville.
