LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky junior midfielder Michael D’Agostino has been named to the Conference USA preseason all-conference squad, it was announced Tuesday.
D’Agostino earned third-team All-C-USA honors a year ago after scoring two goals and tallying a team-high six assists. He has been an all-conference award winner in each of his two years in the Commonwealth thus far.
Over the offseason, D’Agostino, a Langley, British Columbia native, competed with the Canadian U-20 National Team against the United States and Brazil, earning three caps. He played all 90 minutes in both games of a friendly series with the US.
SMU and UAB led the way in the preseason choices as each placed three on the all-conference squad. The Mustangs were also picked as the preseason favorite in the league, which they won last year. South Carolina, the defending C-USA Tournament champion was chosen second with the Blazers third.
Kentucky was picked seventh in the preseason poll, which matches its finish from the 2005 season.
The Wildcats start the season on Aug. 25 in the UK Invitational. Prior to that, UK travels Oakland for an exhibition this Saturday, Aug. 19.
