LEXINGTON — Kentucky sluggers Ryan Strieby and Sean Coughlin continue to pile up the awards as each was named a Pro-Line Cap/NCBWA All-American, it was announced Tuesday by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Strieby was named to the second team and it is the third All-America team he has been named to this year. He was a first-team selection by both Louisville Slugger and the College Baseball Foundation. He has also been named the NCBWA District III Player of the Year and the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year.
Coughlin earned his first All-America nod, garnering third-team honors. He joined Strieby on the ABCA All-South District team earlier this week while also being named second-team All-SEC.
For the year, the duo anchored Kentucky’s record-setting offense. Strieby led the team with a .343 batting average and 20 home runs while setting the school record by driving in 80.
The starting backstop, Coughlin led all SEC catchers with 17 homers and 55 RBIs while batting .325. Both were drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft last week.
