Both of Kentucky?s teams are locks to return to the NCAA Tournament that begins on May 12 after once again having tremendous seasons.
The women, currently ranked 20th, still have hopes of hosting first-round action at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center. The top 16 teams will serve as hosts of first and second round action if they have the facilities. The Cats went 17-9 this season and tied Georgia for third (8-3) in the Southeastern Conference. UK had six women receive All-SEC recognition and made the finals of the SEC Tournament for the second consecutive campaign.
The 33rd-ranked men?s tennis team will be hitting the road for the NCAA Tournament after going 16-9 and finishing fourth (7-4) in the SEC. The Cats enter the tourney led by senior All-SEC first team selection Alex Hume and SEC Freshman of the Year Bruno Agostinelli.
In 2005, both squads had successful NCAA runs. The UK women advanced all the way to the quarterfinals for its best-ever NCAA finish, while the men went to the tournament for the 12th straight season and reached the Round of 32.
