The University of Kentucky softball team will host a pair of camps this summer in Lexington. The first camp will be held June 18-21, while the second is set for July 16-19 at the UK Softball Complex.
Camp No. 1 will run from June 18-21 and is open to 8-12 year-olds. The camp introduces the fundamental skills to young players interested in fast-pitch softball.
Head coach Eileen Schmidt, assistant coaches Melissa Inouye and Brett Prosek, and current UK softball players will teach softball-specific skills in an atmosphere conducive to learning this exciting game. Campers will receive hands-on training in hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, catching, sliding, base running and more.
Registration for Camp No. 1 is $325 for overnight campers and $250 for day campers when received before June 7. If applications are post-marked between June 7-13, fees are $375 for overnight and $300 for day campers. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required.
The second camp will be held July 16-19 and is for players ranging in age from 13-18. This camp will introduce fundamental and advanced skills to athletes that are interested in making themselves better players on and off the diamond.
Campers will also learn about strength and conditioning skills and college compliance information will be offered. This camp will give specialized and advanced instruction that will improve the athlete?s softball skill level.
Overnight campers will stay in UK dormitories with camp counselors and have the opportunity to form lifelong relationships with athletes from around the state and region. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided for overnight campers, while lunch only will be provided for day campers.
Registration for Camp No. 2 is $325 for overnight campers and $250 for day campers when received before July 5. If applications are post-marked between July 5-11, fees are $375 for overnight and $300 for day camp. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is also required.
