STATESBORO, Ga. ? Sophomore Kentucky golfer Brad Doster (Winter Park, Fla.) carded a 5-under-par 211 (69-70-72) to lead the Wildcats to a third-place finish at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational Sunday at the Forest Heights Country Club. As a team, the Cats finished with a 1-over-par 865 (285-288-292) in the two-day event hosted by Georgia Southern University.
?This was a pretty decent performance for our guys,? UK head coach Brian Craig said. ?We didn’t play our best the last two rounds but still had managed to have a respectable finish in a solid field. I must also commend Brad Doster who is quickly becoming one of the best players in the SEC and is carrying the load for our team this spring.?
North Carolina captured the event after firing a 7-under-par 857 (291-278-288), while SEC foe Florida finished two strokes off the lead with a 5-under-par 859 (294-284-281). Michigan State?s Matt Harmon took home the individual crown with a 9-under-par 207 (68-69-70). Doster finished in a tie for third place in the individual standings.
Freshman Andy Winings (Brownsburg, Ind.) finished in a tie for 10th place with an even par 216 (73-71-72), while senior Matt Kohn (Longwood, Fla.) carded a 217 (71-72-74) to conclude tournament play in a tie for 15th place.
Freshman Dan Woltman (Beaver Dam, Wisc.) carded a 221 (72-75-74) to finish in a tie for 33rd place, while junior Tyler Wilson (Lexington, Ky.) finished in 70th place with a 231 (77-75-79) to round out the tournament field for the Wildcats.
Kentucky returns to action Sunday, March 26, when it travels to Awendaw, S.C., to participate in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. Complete results and a recap will be available at ukathletics.com.
