DORADO, Puerto Rico ? The University of Kentucky men?s golf team wrapped up play today, Mar. 7, at the Hyatt Plantation Club Intercollegiate with a third-round 285 to finish second in the 11-team field. Texas Tech won the team title with a three-day total of 843 to defeat the Cats (854) by 11 strokes.

Charlotte and Louisville tied for third with scores of 856, while host-team Georgia State finished fifth at 858. Texas Tech?s Oscar Floren and Andrew Dresser tied for the individual medalist with scores of 207.

Freshman Andy Winings turned in his third top 10 performance and the best overall finish of his career as he tied for fifth in the individual standings with a score of 211 (69-71-71). Winings? previous best was a sixth-place finish at The Preview on Sept. 26-28 in Sunriver, Ore. Sophomore Brad Doster tied for tenth overall with a score of 213 (70-70-73), which tied his best finish of the 2005-06 season. The Florida native also finished 10th at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate, Oct. 10-11, in Tampa, Fla.

Junior tied for 16th with a three-round total of 215 (72-70-73). The Lexington native tied his career-low round with a second-round 70. Wilson?s previous personal best was a 41st place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate, Oct. 23-25, in Orlando, Fla. Freshman Dan Woltman ended the day tied for 34th with a score of 220 (74-76-70), while senior Matt Kohn rounded out the scoring with a three-day total of 224 (71-82-71).

“This was not a bad performance for our second time out this spring. I am particularly proud of Dan Woltman and Matt Kohn for bouncing back today and helping us to a very respectable showing. Tyler Wilson also had a well-deserved solid outing,? said head coach Brian Craig. ?We are back on the right track and I look for great things from these guys for the remainder of the spring.”

The Wildcats return to action Mar. 18-19 at the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
