NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Carla Thomas scored 17 points and No. 24 Vanderbilt beat Kentucky 72-55 on Thursday night.
Dee Davis added 14 points for the Commodores (18-9, 7-6 Southeastern Conference). Nicole Jules had 13, Caroline Williams 11 and Liz Sherwood scored 10.
Carly Ormerod led Kentucky (19-7, 8-5) with 19 points, and Samantha Mahoney had 12.
The Commodores opened the second half with eight straight points, taking a 39-28 lead on Jules’ basket with 16 minutes remaining.
Vanderbilt scored 11 straight points during a 17-3 run midway through the first half, going ahead 23-15 on Thomas’ jumper with 7 minutes left.
Kentucky scored the last six points of the first half and trailed 31-28 at halftime.
