MIAMI LAKES, Fla. ? The Kentucky women?s golf team shot a second-round 312 Monday at the Don Shula Golf Course to drop to 11th place after two rounds of the Papa John?s Collegiate Invitational. The Wildcats have a two-round total of 617 (305-312) at the three-day event hosted by the University of Miami.
Kentucky, which was tied for fourth place after the first round of play, was led by junior Katie Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) and senior Sunshine State native Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.), each of whom currently are in a tie for 19th place at 8-over-par. Johnson (77-75) and Kicklighter (73-79) have carded 8-over-par 152 marks through two rounds.
Johnson and senior Erin Faulkner (Bowling Green, Ky.) each shot squad-best rounds of 75 on the day. Faulkner currently is in a tie for 50th place with a 160 (85-75). Sophomore Beth Felts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) is tied for 54th place with a 161 (75-86) after a tough second-round 86, while junior Marissa Muir (Tuscon, Ariz.) is tied for 58th place with a 163 (80-83).
The final round of play in the Papa John?s Collegiate Invitational begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start. Complete results and a recap will be available at ukathletics.com.
