The Kentucky men?s tennis team will be at home this weekend hosting the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships beginning on Friday at the Lexington Tennis Club at 12:30 p.m. On Saturday, both singles and doubles action will be taking place at the Lexington Tennis Club and at the Hilary J. Boone Center beginning at 10 a.m. The Boone Tennis Center will host all matches on Sunday and Monday with the finals at 2 p.m. on Monday.
The No. 21 Cats will be going up against players from some of nation?s best teams this weekend. The SEC currently has eight teams ranked in the top-25 with Florida and Georgia ranked No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
Kentucky enters the tournament with three players ranked in the top-100.
Freshman Bruno Agostinelli is the 48th-ranked player in the country after leading UK with 11 wins this fall. Senior Alex Hume is ranked No. 61 after winning nine matches this fall. Rounding out the ranked Cats is senior Nate Emge. Emge is ranked No. 83 in singles. The native of Evansville, Ind., also teams with Hume to be the 40th-ranked doubles team in collegiate tennis.
This weekend will also mark the first home matches for freshman Greg Anderson. The native of Johannesburg, South Africa, got his first taste of collegiate tennis last weekend at the National Tennis Collegiate Classic in Indian Wells, Calif.
Also in action this weekend will be sophomore Marcus Sundh, who captured a singles and doubles title at the Louisville Fall Invitational, and senior Carey Rubin.
?The SEC is clearly the best tennis conference in the country,? head coach Dennis Emery said. ?Some of the best players in collegiate tennis will be here this weekend and we hope our fans will be able to come out and cheer us on at both the Boone Center and Lexington Tennis Club.?
Admission to this weekend?s matches at both sites will be free. Fans are encouraged to use the new parking structure adjacent to the Boone Tennis Stadium. Parking will cost $2.00 for the first hour, $2.00 for the second hour and then $1.00 for every hour after that with a $10.00 maximum fee to park.
