The University of Kentucky track and field team will hold its annual team Fall Intra-Squad sprint trials at Nutter Field House this Thursday and Friday. Fans are encouraged to come out and catch a glimpse of the Wildcat sprinters.
Thursday the Cats will compete in the 60-meter high hurdles, two heats of the 60 meters and two heats of the 300 meters. Races will begin at 3:40 p.m. and end around 4:45.
Friday, the women will compete in the 400 meters and the men will clash in the 4×400 meter relay. Competition starts at 4:30 p.m.
Of those competing will be sophomore Justin Harrison, who last season set the freshmen indoor school record for the 400 meters in a time of 46.72. Senior Dedrick Tillerson will also be on hand. The Henderson, Ky. native placed fifth at last season?s SEC Championships in the 400 hurdles. Newcomers Jose Acevedo and Gordon McKenzie will showcase their skills for the first time as Wildcats. Acevedo currently owns the Venezuelan Junior National record for the 400 meters, while McKenzie placed first at the AAU Junior Olympics in the 4×100 relay and second in the 100 meters.
On the women?s side, Kenya Patton will compete after posting UK?s top seasonal marks for the 100 and 200 meters last season. Newcomer Ashley Trimble, a three-time Ohio state champion in the 100 high hurdles, will also compete.
