The game will be available on the following channels: UPN, which is Insight Cable Channel 5 in Lexington; Adelphia Cable Channel 99 in Central Kentucky; WKYT’s digital channel 27.2; and the Fox Sports South viewing area (Insight Cable Channel 52 in Lexington), excluding the state of Tennessee.
The Wildcats are 6-0 for the first time since 1984-85 and are looking to extend their win streak to seven games for the first time since the 1982-83 season. The Cats smashed the school record and tied the NCAA record for blocked shots in a game with 19 swats in their 71-40 victory over the Aggies. Sophomore center Sarah Elliott (McKee, Ky.) tied the individual school record with six blocks vs. North Carolina A&T.
?We are looking forward to playing Georgetown tomorrow,? UK Coach Mickie DeMoss said. ?They are a solid team that is in the rebuilding process with a second-year coach. Playing two games in three days like this will help us down the road in preparing for tournament situations.?
Junior guard Jenny Pfeiffer (North Vernon, Ind.) leads two Wildcats in double-figure scoring, averaging 11.5 points per game. Sophomore Samantha Mahoney (Detroit) follows with 10.8 ppg, while sophomore forward/center Eleia Roddy (Columbus, Ohio) is UK?s leader on the boards with 7.7 rebounds per game.
This is the second meeting all-time between the Wildcats and Hoyas. Kentucky leads the all-time series 1-0 after an 87-82 victory over Georgetown on Nov. 27, 1993. The Cats are 64-25 against the current alignment of GU?s BIG EAST Conference.
Georgetown is 4-2 this season after capturing a 59-44 victory over Appalachian State last week. Forward Kieraah Marlow leads the way for the Hoyas, averaging 14.3 ppg as one of three players averaging double-figure point totals. Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy is in her second season with the Hoyas after serving as an assistant at SEC foe Georgia from 1996-2002.
