The University of Kentucky sophomore Kelsey Fenix has been named to the third annual women?s soccer Southeastern Conference Good Works Team. The SEC sponsors Good Works Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Fenix has been an avid volunteered in the Lexington community. The Westlake, Ohio, native has worked at food drives for God?s Pantry and has served meals to residents at The Hope Center in downtown Lexington. The exercise science major stuffed Christmas stockings for families as part of the Salvation Army Stocking Stuffers and she also took time to play BINGO with patients at the UK Children’s Hospital.
Fenix has played in all 19 games for the Wildcats this season. The midfielder leads the team and ranks fourth in the SEC with 52 shots this season. Fenix has scored a pair of goals and recorded one assist, giving her five points this season.
Fenix and the Cats return to action Wednesday, Nov. 3, as they face Ole Miss in the opening round of the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala. Game time is set for 1 p.m. ET.
