The Kentucky women?s tennis team wraps up their fall season Thursday by playing in a pair of tournaments.
Juniors Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk will be in action at the ITA National Collegiate Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio. The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships are the second of three national tournaments during the collegiate tennis season and will be played at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
The 15th-ranked Coventry will be participating in the singles draw, as well as teaming with Schwenk in doubles competition.
The other four members of the Cats? squad, Lara Maurer, Danielle Petrisko, Liis Sober and Caroline Winebrenner, will compete in the Southeastern Conference Fall Coaches Championships in Peachtree City, Ga.
First-year head coach Carlos Drada has been impressed by the work ethic the women have shown all fall and looks for a strong finish.
?We have been working extremely hard this past semester,? Drada said. ?It has been an adjustment process and our women have made great strides in working toward our ultimate team goals.?
?We have two important tournaments coming up this weekend and we have an opportunity to improve our standings in the SEC and in the nation heading into the spring.?
